From Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam to Mission Sudarshan Chakra: PM Modi in Udupi Declares “New India Does Not Bow to Anyone”

From Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam to Mission Sudarshan Chakra: During a grand spiritual gathering at Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi, PM Modi invoked “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” and unveiled Mission Sudarshan Chakra — declaring a New India that stands firm, protects its citizens, and bows before no one.

On Friday, Narendra Modi visited the historic Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi, Karnataka — marking his first trip there in 14 years. His visit included participation in the “Laksha Kantha Gita Parayan,” a mass recitation of the sacred verses, followed by a massive road show through the temple town. The gathering turned into a powerful platform for the Prime Minister’s bold vision for India’s identity, governance, and security.

Modi described the moment as deeply meaningful, recalling Udupi’s legacy: “This region has roots in the early days of good governance, dating back to the first election of a grassroots leader from Jan Sangh.” He said that heritage laid the foundation of a new governance model in India — blending tradition with progressive administration.

Sanskrit philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam

Invoking the ancient Sanskrit philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — “the world is one family” — Modi tied India’s moral and cultural heritage to its modern policy framework.

He also referenced the shloka Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah (“Dharma protects those who protect it”) to underline that India’s duty to righteousness and protection defines its path forward.

But this is not just spiritual rhetoric. On this occasion, Modi unveiled the transformative security initiative — Mission Sudarshan Chakra — framing it as India’s pledge that no threat, internal or external, will be tolerated. He declared, “This is a new India: we protect our people, our institutions — we bow before no one.”

Mission Sudarshan Chakra aims to build a comprehensive, multi-layered shield around key national infrastructure, public institutions, and strategic assets. Developed with 100% indigenous technology, this defence umbrella will combine surveillance, interception, cyber protection, and rapid response — aimed at neutralizing threats such as missiles, drones, loitering munitions, and hybrid warfare, before they strike.

Modi pointed to recent tragedies — including terrorist attacks that harmed citizens, among them members of the Kanara community — to stress that past governments often stayed silent. But under this new regime, silence no longer means safety; action does. “We know how to establish peace, and we know how to defend it,” he said.

Beyond security, Modi emphasized that India’s future lies in the age-old values of social welfare and inclusive growth. Drawing inspiration from the teachings of Lord Krishna, he linked the ideals of compassion, universal welfare, and global solidarity to contemporary policies like public health, affordable housing, and women’s empowerment. This, he said, reflects the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam in action: one world — one family.

Gita Parayan program

In his address to thousands gathered at the Gita Parayan program, Modi called upon every citizen to commit to moral duties — from environmental stewardship and supporting the poor to embracing “vocal for local,” natural farming, yoga, and preserving India’s heritage through initiatives like the Gyan Bharatham Mission. These, he said, are the building blocks for a united, prosperous New India leading up to 2047.

As the crowd recited Gita verses in unison, the message was clear: spiritual heritage and national resolve are intertwined. With Mission Sudarshan Chakra safeguarding the nation and the philosophy of universal brotherhood guiding its soul, India appears poised to stride ahead — unbowed, confident, and resolute.
