Congratulating India, Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh, WHO’s Regional Director for South-East Asia, said that India has been congratulated for proving another milestone with one billion vaccine doses.

He further praised India and said that the extraordinary achievement in a short span of time would not have been possible without strong political leadership, inter-sectoral convergence, holistic health, and dedicated efforts of the frontline workforce.

He said that India’s progress should be seen in the context of the country’s commendable commitment and efforts should be made to ensure that these life-saving vaccines are available globally.
