World Athletics Championship 2022: India’s Avinash Sable misses out on a medal in the 3000m steeplechase event.

It was a disappointing morning for India in the ongoing 18th World Athletics Championships in Oregon. India expected Avinash Sable to fetch a medal but finished 11th in the final event.

He clocked 8:31:75 in the final event. The race was won by Sofiane Bakkali of Morocco. He took the gold with a timing of 8:25:13.

Earlier, he had made it to the final on July 16, clocking 8:18.75 in the qualification round. Last month, he broke the national record by clocking 8:12.48 while finishing fifth in the prestigious Diamond League.

Avinash first came into the limelight at the 2019 Asian Athletics Championships where he won a silver medal.
