Amravati chemist murder: NIA detained all 7 accused, got transit remand.
All seven accused in the murder case of chemist Umesh Kolhe in Maharashtra’s Amravati have been taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
A police officer gave this information on Tuesday. The NIA took all the accused into custody, the official said.
These accused were produced on Monday in a court in Amravati, which granted transit remand. The accused are likely to be produced before the NIA court in Mumbai before July 8.
Police Commissioner Arti Singh had said on Monday that Amravati police had come to know about links between social media posts supporting Nupur Sharma and the murder of chemist Umesh Kolhe, but the matter was “extremely sensitive”.
Because of this, it was not disclosed earlier. He had said that the police did not disclose it earlier to avoid any untoward incident.
The seven accused, Mudassar Ahmed (22), Shahrukh Pathan (25), Abdul Tawfiq (24), Shoaib Khan (22), Aatib Rashid (22), and Dr. Yusuf Khan Bahadur Khan (44), were detained by the NIA.
NIA also arrested the alleged main conspirator Sheikh Irfan Sheikh Rahim. Police are also looking for another accused Shamim Ahmed in the case.
Significantly, on June 21, three people allegedly attacked Umesh Kolhe with a knife. Umesh died during treatment.
He had supported Nupur Sharma on social media, who had allegedly made objectionable remarks against Prophet Mohammad during a debate on TV.
This incident came to light when Kanhaiyala Teli was murdered in Udaipur.
Amravati massacre: Umesh Kolhe’s friend was involved in the conspiracy, and revealed – the accused was in the same WhatsApp group.
One of the accused involved in the murder of Umesh Kolhe in Amravati was in the same WhatsApp group in which Umesh Kolhe had allegedly posted in support of suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma.
Umesh Kolhe’s brother told that this accused was a friend of Umesh Kolhe.
Umesh Kolhe’s brother, Mahesh Kolhe, told the news agency that Yusuf Khan, arrested on charges of murder, was a friend of Umesh.
He is a Veterinarian and we have known him since 2006. Yusuf Khan is one of the 7 accused who has been arrested for the murder of Umesh Kolhe.
