Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami and his wife Samyabrata Ray Goswami on Wednesday filed an anticipatory bail in the case in Mumbai’s Sessions Court.

An FIR was lodged by the Mumbai Police against the editor-in-chief of Republic TV Arnab Goswami and his wife Samyabrata Ray Goswami for allegedly assaulting a woman policeman.

What is the whole matter?

In fact, in November 2018, when the police team arrived at his residence to arrest Arnab Goswami in connection with the alleged provoking interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother to suicide.

He was accused by 49-year-old police officer Sujata Tanwade of assaulting and heckling her. In this case  Last week an FIR was filed against Arnab Goswami at MN Joshi Marg police station Central Mumbai.

Sources in the court said that on Thursday, on the petition for anticipatory bail of Arnab Goswami and his wife, Additional Sessions Judge P.B. Jadhav can hear.

Sections 353 (obstructing public servant’s work), 504 (intentionally insulting someone for breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation/intimidation) and public property against Arnab Goswami and his wife.

A case has been registered under the law for causing harm. The complainant in this case is 49-year-old police officer Sujata Tanwade. She has alleged that on November 4, Goswami, his wife, and son assaulted her.

Meanwhile, Arnab Goswami was released from Taloja jail on Wednesday evening following a Supreme Court order. The Supreme Court had ordered the release of Arnab Goswami and other co-accused on interim bail.

Speaking to reporters, Arnab Goswami said that this was an illegal arrest made by a government that does not understand that it cannot bring back independent media.
