Abdullah Abdullah Told Doval The Progress Of Talks With Taliban

Abdullah Abdullah told Doval about the progress of talks with the Taliban, NSA said, India is in favor of a prosperous Afghanistan.

Abdullah Abdullah, who was involved in talks with the Taliban as the chief negotiator on behalf of the Afghan government, met National Security Advisor, NSA Ajit Doval in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The meeting discussed the progress of peace talks with the Taliban and other bilateral issues. In the talks, India announced full support for the peace talks.

The meeting was also attended by Doval (NSA Ajit Doval) along with Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army Staff MM Narwane, Foreign Secretary Harshvardhan Shringla and JP Singh, Joint Secretary for Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran Affairs.

In a tweet after the talks, Abdullah conveyed India’s full support to the peace talks. Doval has assured him that India will fully support the peace agreement in Afghanistan. Abdullah said that India is in favor of an independent, democratic, sovereign, and peaceful Afghanistan.

In the conversation, Doval expressed this expectation of India. Several Afghan leaders and officials were also involved in the talks with Abdullah. It is noteworthy that for the first time talks are taking place between the Government of Afghanistan and the Taliban.

Abdullah, who holds the number two position after President Ashraf Ghani in Afghanistan, arrived in New Delhi on a five-day visit on Tuesday.

Abdullah Abdullah will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. He is also likely to hold talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

Abdullah wrote in a tweet, “In New Delhi, I will meet the Indian leadership and exchange views on the Afghan peace process and bilateral relations.”

Abdullah has come here on the invitation of the Government of India. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation. He said that historical relations with India are important for us.
