Development Of Indigenous Defence Capability Necessary

Development of indigenous defence capability is necessary for the foundation for lasting peace, Rajnath Singh said, Amid tensions with China.

Amid a tense standoff between the Indian and Chinese armies in eastern Ladakh, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said India is a peaceful nation and believes that the development of indigenous defense capability is the foundation for ‘lasting peace’.

Addressing the group of foreign ambassadors in a virtual manner at the upcoming Aero India Exhibition, Singh also referred to various reforms taken by the government to make India a center of production of vital military weapons and systems.

Defence Minister invites 75 countries for ‘Aero India’

He said we are a peace-loving country. We are committed to peace and stability worldwide. We are committed to the belief that self-reliance and indigenous defence capability are the foundation of lasting peace.

According to defence officials, ambassadors, mission heads, and defense officials from more than 75 countries participated in this online conference.

Presenting India as an attractive place for investment in the field of defence materials manufacturing, the Defence Minister said that to make this world a safer, peaceful, and prosperous place one has to join hands.

We need to remove the obstacles that come in the way of forming our natural alliance.

He said that India is determined to be among the top five countries of the world in the field of defense and aerospace. India is one of the few countries in the world that produces fourth-generation fighter aircraft, nuclear submarines, main battle tanks, and intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Appealing to the ambassadors to encourage the defense manufacturers and policymakers of their respective countries to participate in Aero India, he said that this program is an important platform for the aerospace industry to explore the business potential.

Aero India, considered Asia’s largest aerospace exhibition, will take place in Bangalore from February 3 to 7 next year. Rajnath Singh said that we want to make India among the top 5 countries in the defence and aerospace industries.

This will serve the purpose of production, self-sufficiency, and the demands of other friendly countries with active participation from the public and private sectors.
