Amarnath Yatra stopped from Jammu due to bad weather, and a new batch of pilgrims was not allowed to proceed.

Amarnath Yatra from Jammu has been suspended due to bad weather and no fresh batch has been allowed to go to the cave temple base camps in South Kashmir from here.

The officers provided this information.

On Friday, 16 people were killed while around 40 people were missing due to flash floods triggered by a cloudburst near the Amarnath cave.

An official told the news agency, “Due to inclement weather, the Amarnath Yatra from Jammu to two base camps in Kashmir has been postponed. No new batch is being allowed to proceed towards Amarnath.”

The 43-day annual pilgrimage began on June 30 through two routes.

The traditional route is 48 km from Nunwan in Pahalgam of Anantnag in south Kashmir and another 14 km shorter is the Baltal route in the Ganderbal district of central Kashmir.

So far more than one lakh devotees have worshiped in the cave temple. This yatra is scheduled to end on August 11, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

Since June 29, a total of 69,535 pilgrims have left for the Valley in 10 batches from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu.

Amarnath Yatra stopped from Jammu: The flood came due to a cloudburst on Friday.

Let us inform you that many people were washed away in the flash floods caused by cloudbursts on Friday evening near the holy Amarnath cave located in South Kashmir.

So far 16 people have died due to being buried under the debris, while 40 passengers are missing. 65 people have been injured in this accident.

However, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the incident was not caused by a cloudburst.

On the other hand, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha held a meeting with the officials and instructed them to expedite the relief and rescue work and to take the pilgrims to a safe place.
