Amarnath Yatra Suspended On Pahalgam-Baltal Route

Amarnath Yatra suspended on Pahalgam-Baltal route after heavy rains, the seventh batch of pilgrims leaves from Jammu: Amarnath Yatra 2022.

Amarnath Yatra has been stopped due to rain and bad weather since night.

Due to heavy rains, the administration has postponed the yatra leaving for this morning on the Baltal and Pahalgam routes due to the possibility of landslides on the Pahalgam and Baltal routes.

The pilgrims have been asked to stay in the base camps till the weather clears.

However, amidst the rain, the seventh batch of Baba Amarnath pilgrims from Jammu was sent to the Kashmir Valley. Today, 6351 pilgrims were involved in the batch that was dispatched on Tuesday.

Administrative officials said that the process of rain in Kashmir had started at night itself. There is a possibility of landslides due to rain on Pahalgam and Baltal roads.

Amarnath Yatra suspended: The weather is not clear even at the holy cave of Shri Amarnath. The cold has also increased due to the rain.

This is the reason why the yatra has been postponed till the rains stop and the weather clears to ensure the safety of the pilgrims.

There is no problem of any kind for the devotees who have been stopped in the camps. Adequate arrangements are available for the pilgrims in the base camps.

Let us tell you that in the last six days, more than 65 thousand devotees have seen Baba Barfani sitting in the holy cave of Shri Amarnath. During this, five people have also lost their lives.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha himself had reached Baltal base camp on Monday to take stock of the travel arrangements.

He not only reviewed the arrangements made there for the devotees but also interacted with the pilgrims visiting from other states of the country.

Expressing satisfaction over the travel arrangements, the devotees told the Lieutenant Governor that they have been coming on a continuous journey for the last several years.

But this time the way facilities have been provided to them and security has been ensured, is commendable.

At the same time, an official said that after the rain stops, both the routes will be reviewed. If the yatra route is found suitable for the movement of pilgrims, the yatra will be started immediately.

Army, paramilitary forces, and teams of various departments are constantly keeping an eye on the travel route.
