Anayat Ashraf Dar, who recently turned terrorist from an overground worker, was killed in an encounter by the security forces.
Before killing him in the encounter, the security forces gave him a chance to surrender several times but he refused to lay down his arms.
18-year-old Anayat, a resident of Keshwa village in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, had on Wednesday escaped after shooting a shopkeeper from his own locality, Jeewar Hameed Bhat.
The shopkeeper is seriously injured and has been taken under treatment in the hospital.
After this attack, the security forces had carried out a search operation in Chitrigam since the night in search of the absconding Anayat.
Confirming the death of Anayat, police officials said that earlier, Anayat, who worked as an overground worker for terrorists, also used to smuggle drugs.
There are many cases registered against him in the police. He was recently inducted into the organization after building confidence in the terrorist organization.
Not only this but he was also given a pistol and some grenades. On the basis of these weapons, he was spreading his panic among the people for the last many days.
The one he had shot at local shopkeeper Hameed Bhat last Wednesday was also a similar case.

After being informed that he was hiding in the Chitrigam area, the security forces started a search operation to find him.
The information systems had also informed the security forces that two to three more terrorists are also present in the area along with Anayat.
In the early hours of today, when the security personnel reached near the hideout of the terrorist, they started firing on the security forces.
Before retaliation, the security forces asked the terrorist to surrender several times, but every time he answered the security forces with bullets.
After this, the security forces in retaliation killed the terrorist there.
Taking possession of the terrorist’s body, the security forces also recovered a pistol and some grenades from the encounter site.
At present, the search operation of the security forces is going on due to the apprehension of the presence of more terrorists in the area.
Local sources say that Anayat was 18 years old and had joined the terrorists a few days back.
This was the 50th encounter in the Kashmir Valley in these nine months. So far, 106 terrorists have been killed by the security forces in these encounters.
However, after killing such a young terrorist, the security forces are also very sad. He has once again appealed to the family members to ask their children who have gone on the path of terrorism to return.
