Bhagwati Amman Temple Festival: Periyakulam was full of festivities due to the sprouting procession.
On the eve of the Arulmigu Temple Festival in Periyakulam, Theni District, women marched in procession carrying sprouts.
Bhagwati Amman Temple Festival: –
On the eve of the Arulmigu Sri Bhagwati Amman Temple festival located in the north bank of Periyakulam in the Theni district, more than 500 women took sprouts and paid their dues to the goddess.
This Festival of Bhagwati is celebrated every year in a very special way.
The festival was also held at the Bhagwati Amman Temple this year as well. For the festival, the public visited the goddess despite the insulation and fasting.
During the festival, women beat the gummy bears in front of the temple premises.
Following this, the women took sprouts through the main streets and marched in procession to the Ganesha temple near the Goat Bridge where they performed special poojas for Ganesha and chanted.
From there they proceeded to the temple via Theradi Street, Upper Rathaveti Palace Street, Bhagwati Amman Kovil Road, via Periyakulam Main Road.
Earlier, the Mulappari procession took place along the Bhagwati Amman Sami Veedhi with an accordion and fireworks. The public on both sides of the road paid homage to the Swami.
Later Arulmigu Sri Bhagwati Amman special pujas and Deeparathanas were held. A large number of devotees attended the Sami darshan.
University team to participate in national-level wrestling competition – Competition for student selection.
The Mallarkamba selection competition for the Thiruvalluvar University team to participate in the national level competition was held at the Villupuram Government Arts College Grounds.
The national-level inter-university wrestling competition will be held in Rajasthan from April 3 to 6 next month. The tournament is attended by teams from various universities across the country.
Teams from various universities in Tamil Nadu including Thiruvalluvar University, Annamalai University, Bharathiar University, Bharathi Dasan University are participating in that event.
