Case Registered For Wrapping Body Of Geelani In Pakistani Flag

Case registered for wrapping the body of separatist leader Geelani in Pakistani flag, Pakistan had a day’s mourning.

After the death of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the matter of wrapping his body in the Pakistani flag has come to light. A video of this has also gone viral.

After the matter came to the authorities, the police have registered a case against Geelani’s relatives and others, but no arrest has been made so far.

Geelani, a 92-year-old hardliner, passed away last Wednesday night after a prolonged illness. Geelani breathed his last at his residence in Hyderpora, Srinagar.

After which a day of mourning was declared in Pakistan and the flag of the country was also flown at half-mast. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed grief over Geelani’s death by tweeting.

In the early hours of Thursday, Geelani’s body was buried in a cemetery located near his house after being wrapped in a Pakistani flag.

An attempt was made to speak to Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh in this regard, but he did not pick up the phone.

However, according to a police official, an FIR has been registered against Geelani’s relative. Apart from wrapping the Pakistani flag on the body, he has also been accused of anti-national activities.

Let us tell you that Geelani has been known for its pro-Pakistan agenda. He was earlier a member of Jamaat-e-Islami and later he formed Tehreek-e-Hurriyat.

He was the president of the radical faction of the Hurriyat and had to resign from the Hurriyat last year.

Security was tightened in various parts of the Valley, including Srinagar, as a precautionary measure after Geelani’s death.

The roads leading to his house have been sealed. Apart from this, internet service was also stopped to control the rumors.

In the drug smuggling case, Punjab Police raided the village of Rajouri and seized Rs 29.50 lakh from the house of the smuggler.

In this case, smuggler Sikander Ahmed was arrested by the Punjab Police a few days back. On the basis of his interrogation, his house was raided.
