CBI Arrests 9 People In A Case Related To Chennai Port Trust

CBI arrests 9 people in a 100 crore fraud case related to Chennai Port Trust.

The CBI has arrested nine persons for alleged fraud in the Chennai Port Trust (CPT) fixed deposit case of over Rs 100 crore in Indian Bank.

On July 31, 2020, the investigating agency had started probing the allegations against bank officials, including others.

CBI arrests 9 people: They were accused of conspiring to siphon off CPT fixed deposits of Rs 100.57 crore deposited in the bank and transfer the amount to different accounts.

CBI spokesperson RC Joshi said on Tuesday, “The allegation was also that Indian Bank suffered a loss of Rs 45.40 crore due to premature closure of several fixed deposit accounts.

After a thorough investigation spanning over a year, the CBI on Monday night arrested nine people in the case.

They have been identified as Ganesh Natarajan, V. Manimozhi, J. Selvakumar, K. Zakir Hussain, M Vijay Herald, M Rajesh Singh, S. Siad, S. Afsar, and V. Sudalaimuthu.

Ten crore liters of milk reaches Delhi from Andhra Pradesh through ‘Doodh Duronto’

Milk supply from Renigunta in Andhra Pradesh to the national capital through ‘Doodh Duronto’ special trains has crossed the 100 million liter mark.

These special trains are being operated by South Central Railway uninterruptedly since its inception on 26th March 2020. So far 2,502 milk tankers have been transported through 443 rounds.

The Ministry of Railways said that before COVID-19, milk tankers were being added to weekly superfast trains to meet the milk requirements in New Delhi and adjoining areas.

When the nationwide lockdown was imposed, South Central Railway took a unique initiative of running ‘Doodh Duronto’ special trains.

These special trains are covering a distance of 2,300 km between Renigunta and Hazrat Nizamuddin station in 30 hours, in line with Mail and Express trains.
