CNG Price In Mumbai Reduced By Rs 6 Per Kg

CNG price in Mumbai reduced by Rs 6 per kg, PNG cheaper by Rs 3.50, rates is effective from March 31.

City gas utility Mahanagar Gas on Thursday announced a reduction in the retail price of CNG by Rs 6 per kg and piped gas by Rs 3.50 per SCM, with effect from Friday.

In a statement on Thursday, MGL said that as a result of the reduction of VAT on natural gas by the state government from 13.5 percent to 3 percent with effect from April 1, MGL has decided to pass on the full benefits to the consumers.

The retail price of CNG in and around Mumbai has been cut by Rs 6 to Rs 60 per kg and that of domestic piped natural gas (PNG) by Rs 3.50 to Rs 36 per SCM.

An MGL spokesperson said that the company will evaluate the impact of the steep increase in supply prices in due course and revise its retail prices accordingly.

Earlier in the day, the Center had more than doubled the price of domestically produced natural gas for six months starting April 1 due to a hike in global energy rates and the move will benefit Reliance, ONGC, and Oil India.

Petrol, diesel prices hiked by 80 paise.

State-owned oil companies have increased the retail prices of petrol and diesel by 80–80 paise per liter on Thursday. Both these products became expensive for nine days in the last 10 days.

During this, a total increase of Rs 6.40 per liter in petrol and Rs 5.40 per liter has been done in diesel. Talking about Delhi, the retail price of petrol here has gone up to Rs 101.81 per liter.

Diesel costs Rs 87.67 per liter. Maharashtra and Rajasthan are the two states where the price of diesel has now crossed Rs 100.

On Thursday, the government was attacked both inside and outside Parliament by the opposition parties over the petroleum price hike.
