Congress MLA Kaneez Fatima Protested Against Hijab Controversy

Congress MLA Kaneez Fatima and her supporters protested against the Udupi hijab controversy, said- we cannot stop wearing hijab.

In the city of Udupi, Karnataka, the matter is gaining momentum over the Hijab controversy.

Let us tell you that some colleges in Udupi have banned Muslim girl students from wearing hijab in class, against which Congress MLA Kaneez Fatima and her supporters have started protests.

Last month, the Government Pre-University College in Udupi barred five girls from attending classes wearing hijabs, from then on the controversy started.

A petition was filed by these girls in the Karnataka High Court, which is to be heard on February 8.

Fatima and her supporters protested the decision fiercely by standing on the streets outside the DC office in Kalaburagi.

During the protest, Kaneez Fatima said, ‘Girls are being harassed. People of all castes and religions have gathered here since they are being denied admission to schools two months before the exam.

Congress MLA Kaneez Fatima said, “We are ready to change the color of the hijab according to the uniform.” But we can’t stop wearing it.

She said, ‘I wear hijab even in the assembly. A memorandum will be given to the Chief Minister and later on this, we will hold a protest in Udupi.

Protesting student said-

One of the agitating students protesting the ban on hijab being imposed in schools/colleges said, ‘We have a right to wear hijab.”

The ban on hijab is a violation of our fundamental right given by the constitution.

We demand that the government should take action against the officials who stopped girls from entering colleges on the pretext of hijab and ensured this.
