Court Orders Issuance Of Certificates To Winner For Post Of Mayor

Court orders issuance of certificates to the winner of the post of mayor in Coimbatore.

Vanitha, who contested for the post of Suleswaranpatti mayor next to Pollachi in the Coimbatore district, won with 8 votes but Ragini, who was declared the winner by the DMK leadership, got only 7 votes.

The Chennai High Court has directed the State Election Commission to issue a certificate to the winner of the Coimbatore Suleswaranpatti Municipal Corporation.

Vanitha, who contested for the post of Suleswaranpatti mayor next to Pollachi in the Coimbatore district, won with 8 votes but Ragini, who was declared by the DMK leadership, got only 7 votes.

Court orders issuance of certificates to the winner: Ragini’s father had filed a case in the Chennai High Court against candidate Vanitha.

In the case filed Ragini’s father was seeking an order from the State Election Commission to issue a certificate of victory, claiming that Ragini’s victory certificate had been withdrawn due to rioting.

When the case came up for hearing in the session of Chief Justice Munishwarnath Bandari and Justice Bharatha Chakraborty.

The Election Commission was told that the petitioner had won by looking at the surveillance camera footage recorded during the by-elections on the 4th.

Accepting this, the judges ordered the State Election Commission to issue a certificate to the petitioner Vanitha.

The judges also closed the case, ordering legal action against Ragini’s father, who was involved in the riot.
