The war against narco-terrorism in Kashmir, After separatism, now Kashmiris have taken steps for freedom from drugs.

After throttling separatism, Kashmiris have now stepped up to eliminate Narcoterrorism. That is why people who are in the grip of drugs are reaching the drug eradication centers to get freedom from it.

Now people have started talking about it openly. In the last seven years alone, the number of people wanting to quit heroin in Kashmir has increased a hundredfold.

This war against drugs has got its edge from religious leaders and public participation, including government campaigns.

Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, which has failed to spread terrorist violence in Kashmir, has hatched a conspiracy to trap youth in the drug trap through terrorist organizations.

Girls have also come under its wraps. They have been a victim of drugs like heroin and brown sugar. The smuggling of charas, ganja, and opium has also increased in the last few years.

The magnitude of the situation is that according to a state government study last year, about six lakh people in Jammu and Kashmir are under the influence of drugs.

Of these, 90 percent are in the age group of 17-33 years.

According to another study Pattern and Prevalence of Substance Use and Dependence in Kashmir-Special Focus on Opioids, heroin addiction is highest in Kashmir and that too in Anantnag and Srinagar districts.

It has been told in the same study that in Srinagar and Anantnag, heroin and similar drugs worth 3.74 crores are being smuggled annually.

Drug control is being tightened:

A state-level Narco Coordinating Center has been set up under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to tackle drug smugglers and prepare a strategy for the eradication of drug addiction.

Apart from this, Anti Narcotics Force has also been formed. According to Director General of Police Dilbag Singh, we are running a well-planned campaign against Narco-Terrorism.

Apart from taking strict action against drug smuggling, the police are also running drug eradication centers.

We are also taking the help of religious leaders in this. Mission Vapsi is also being run against drugs in Kashmir.

People became aware of getting rid of drugs: Campaigns against drugs at various levels in Kashmir are also having an effect.

The number of people coming to the drug de-addiction center of Government Medical College, Srinagar for treatment and de-addiction is increasing continuously.
