DRDO Successfully Tested Two Indigenous Missiles

DRDO successfully tested two indigenous missiles including new generation Akash, the strength of the Air Force will increase.

In a boost to self-reliant India, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully test-fired two indigenous missiles.

One of these is the new generation Akash surface-to-air missile (Akash-NG) and the other is the low-weight, fire-and-forget Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MP-ATGM).

Air Force’s strength will increase with Akash-NG and Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missiles.

According to an official statement, the Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile was fired from a man-portable launcher integrated with a thermal sight and successfully hit a target simulating a tank.

It was fired from a human-carrying tripod. DRDO stated that the MP-ATGM hit the target in direct attack mode and destroyed it with precision.

With this, the test successfully verified the minimum threshold.

Man-portable anti-tank guided missile equipped with state-of-the-art infrared imaging seeker.

All mission objectives were met. This missile has been successfully flighted tested to a maximum range.

A small state-of-the-art infrared imaging seeker has also been fitted in this completely indigenously developed missile.

With this test, the development work of this third-generation missile is almost complete.

The new generation Akash missile has been developed by the Hyderabad-based Defense Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) in association with the DRDO laboratory.

Representatives of the Indian Air Force were also present at the time of its testing.

With the induction of the Akash-NG missile, the strength of the Indian Air Force will increase further.

The missile has been manufactured by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL). Representatives of these two are also present during the trial.

Defense Minister congratulates Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated DRDO, BDL, BEL, Indian Air Force, and allied industry on the successful test of the missile.

DRDO Chairman Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy also congratulated the team for the successful test.
