On Monday ED has seized a luxury bungalow on Chennai beach, over a dozen cars, and cash worth Rs 82.5 lakh in a money laundering case involving multi-crore extortion accused Sukesh Chandrasekhar.

The ED has established a money laundering case on the basis of an FIR registered by the Economic Offenses Wing of Delhi Police.

The central agency tweeted, “Beach facing luxury bungalow located in Chennai, 2 kg of gold, 16 luxury cars, Rs 82.5 lakh, and other items have been seized in Sukesh Chandrasekhar case.”

Chandrashekhar is also accused in the much-discussed Election Commission bribery scandal and is currently lodged in Rohini Jail.

He was recently arrested by the Special Branch of Delhi Police in an alleged extortion case of Rs 50 crore from a businessman.

According to the police, an alleged associate of Chandrashekhar was a top government official and he used to extort Delhi businessmen by fearing legal action.

Chandrashekhar assured a businessman of helping him in the matter under the guise of his influential contacts and recovered Rs 50 crore from him.

He did this work while in jail. Out of jail, two of his associates had extorted money from the businessman.

He was also lodged in Tihar Jail after his arrest in April 2017 in the Election Commission bribery scandal.

It was alleged that Chandrashekhar had extorted money from AIADMK (Amma) leader TTV Dhinakaran in the name of bribing EC officials in ongoing election symbol dispute between two factions of AIADMK.

NCP leader Praful Patel appeared before Enforcement Directorate.

At the same time, in the second case, senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Union Minister Praful Patel reached the ED office in the Iqbal Mirchi money laundering case.

Patel said that I had come to the ED office to sign some documents related to the Iqbal Mirchi case.
