Enforcement Directorate confiscated assets worth 25 crores of Tamil Nadu criminal, accused in many cases.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached assets worth around 25 crores of PPGD Shankar, a criminal from Tamil Nadu.

The Central Investigation Agency has taken steps under the Anti-Money Laundering Act against the criminal facing multiple cases of murder, ransom, and dacoity charges.

79 lands in his Chennai suburban area were also unearthed. Apart from this, Benami land was also found in the name of PPGD Shankar, which has also been attached.

The market value of these properties is estimated to be around Rs 25 crore. There are about 15 FIRs registered against Shankar in the police.

Three charge sheets have been filed for offenses like murder, ransom, robbery, dacoity, and criminal conspiracy.

On the other hand, last month the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had attached assets worth Rs 69.14 crore of Tamil Nadu-based businessman Dhanraj Kochhar and his family members in a fraud case of over Rs 100 crore.

The properties were attached under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, and include both immovable and movable properties.

The central probe agency had initiated an investigation on the basis of an FIR registered by the Tamil Nadu Police against Dhanraj Kochhar and his family members and associates.

The FIR was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for cheating and criminal conspiracy.

Property worth 1.19 crore attached to former Madhya Pradesh officer

The ED has attached assets worth Rs 1.19 crore of Kamalkant Sharma, a former officer who was on deputation as an Under Secretary in the Madhya Pradesh Legislature.

Agricultural land and houses have been seized in the name of Kamalkant Sharma and his family in the state capital Bhopal and Rewa district.
