Father Of Colonel Santosh Babu: He should Have Got PVC

Father of Colonel Santosh Babu, who was martyred in Galwan Valley, said, the son should have got Paramveer Chakra.

In June last year, the father of Colonel Santosh Babu, B.C. Upendra has said that his son should have been nominated for Param Vir Chakra, the highest military award for the gallantry he displayed.

He also said, “It is not that I am unhappy, but I am not 100 percent satisfied.” On Republic Day, the government has announced to honor Santosh Babu posthumously with Mahavir Chakra.

B.C. Upendra said that the valor shown by his son has inspired many people, including those working in the security forces. He fought the Chinese soldiers overcoming the climatic challenges of the area where his son was stationed.

He said, ‘My son and his people fought empty-handed. By killing more of the enemy’s soldiers, he proved that India is superior and stronger than China.

According to him, Colonel Babu’s family received nothing more than the departmental benefits that the families of martyred soldiers usually get from the center.

It may be noted that the Telangana government has given a grant of five crore rupees to the family of Santosh Babu as a Group-I post and a residential plot to his wife.

On June 15 last year, it has been announced to confer Mahavir Chakra posthumously to Colonel Santosh Babu, who made the supreme sacrifice in the conflict.

Mahavir Chakra is the second highest gallantry award given in the war period.

CRPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohan Lal, who sacrificed his life in an attempt to stop the terrorists by chasing a car full of explosives before the attack in Pulwama, has been announced to be awarded the highest police medal for gallantry.
