The government on Wednesday announced the acquisition of Anchorage Infrastructure Investment Holding Ltd., a subsidiary of Canada’s Pension Fund.
(Anchorage Infrastructure Investment Holding Ltd) approved the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) proposal of Rs 15,000 crore.
This proposal is for investment in the infrastructure sector.
The FDI proposal was approved in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This FDI is exclusively for investment in infrastructure and construction sectors.
This can include transportation and logistics as well as airport-related services and aviation-related businesses and services.
According to an official statement, the investment in Bangalore International Airport Ltd. stake in Anchorage Infrastructure Investment Holding Ltd. transfer is included.
In addition, Anchorage Infrastructure Investment Holding Ltd. by Ontario Inc. An investment of Rs 950 crore is involved in this.
Ontario Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of OAC, which operates OMERS, the statement said. It is one of Canada’s largest fixed benefit pension plans.
FDI of Rs 15 thousand crores: It is said that this investment will give impetus to the infrastructure and construction sector as well as the airport sector.
This will help in implementing the government’s plans to develop airports and transport-related infrastructure globally.
According to the statement, the investment will also give impetus to the National Monetization Pipeline announced this week related to the launch of public sector assets for financing the infrastructure sector.
