Fifteen Stone Pelters Arrested In Srinagar

Fifteen stone pelters arrested in Srinagar, pelted stones on security forces after the encounter, had also reached with sticks.

Police on Thursday arrested 15 mischievous elements who pelted stones at security forces after an encounter with terrorists in Shankarpora, Srinagar.

On Wednesday, three terrorists of The Resistance Front were killed in a fierce encounter by security forces in Shankarpora on the outskirts of Srinagar.

According to the laid down rules, until an encounter site is declared completely safe by the security forces after investigation, the movement of the general public is kept restricted there.

This is done only for the safety of the people.

Actually, terrorists often put grenades or IEDs at many places at the encounter site before dying, which explode later.

After the encounter ended in Shankarpora on Wednesday, a large number of youths gathered from the surrounding areas carrying sticks and stones.

When the security forces refused, they started pelting stones. The security forces also resorted to tear gas to control the situation.

An FIR was registered at the police station regarding stone-pelting.

On the basis of the video footage during stone pelting, the police have arrested 15 accused, identifying the stone pelters.

Police officials said that it is being ascertained whether they had come there to pelt stones as part of a well-planned conspiracy. If so, who was provoking them for this?

Kashmir Police once again appealed to the public especially the youth not to go near the encounter site. He said that it is not right to obstruct the action of security forces by being misled by someone.

Terrorists are not friendly to anyone. This carelessness of theirs can become a cause of danger for them.

The police officer said that the people behind it would be ascertained after questioning the arrested stone pelters.
