Former Captain, Raging On England Cricket Board

Former captain, raging on England cricket board, said- Shame that this player was not in playing team.

Former England captain Geoffrey Boycott feels the current team management should be ashamed of how they have handled the Test career of Johnny Bairstow, who has been rested for the first two matches in India.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Bairstow was fed by the England team as a specialist batsman in the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, but was kept out of the game against India due to workload management.

Johnny Bairstow will be available for the final two Tests in India, but Boycott feels he should have replaced Jose Butler as the wicketkeeper-batsman for the second Test and not Ben Fox.

Jose Butler has been rested after the first Test match in Chennai and he will return home after the limited-overs series of the tour.

Boycott told The Telegraph, “So I would like to see Butler leave India, but it is bad that after his departure, Beierstow is not being given a place for the second Test.

It has to happen because ED Smith (chief selector) wants to see Ben Fox. Smith clearly does not want Johnny Bairstow to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman. ”

He added, “He (Bairstow) has always said that he wants to be a wicket-keeper batsman like his father. He doesn’t want to be just a specialist batsman, but Smith has made that decision and I think it’s unfair.

Johnny missed his chance of keeping again and England should be ashamed of what they have done to him. If England has to feed him, then he has to give them a chance. “

The former captain added, “Bairstow was not really looking for rest, he has been forced. He was ready to stay in India and wicketkeeping. Johnny scored in Sri Lanka.

He plays here for two years in IPL. He has a track record. You would think England would welcome the competition for any place. It’s good for the team.

If Johnny did well and scored, Butler realized he had to stay in the team Gotta play nice. “
