Hurricane Julia caused havoc in America, 19 killed in Guatemala and El Salvador.

Hurricane Julia in Central America caused torrential rains on Monday in Guatemala and El Salvador. At least 19 people are reported to have died due to this storm.

Guatemala’s disaster relief agency said five people were killed after a hill collapsed on a house in the province of Alta Verapaz.

Officials in El Salvador said five Salvadoran army soldiers were killed after a wall collapsed on a house in the city of Comayagua where they had taken refuge.

Hurricane Julia caused havoc in America: Two other people were killed in eastern El Salvador after a wall of their house collapsed due to heavy rain.

In El Salvador, another person died of electrocution, while another person died after a tree fell on him. Hurricane Julia caused heavy rain in Central America and southern Mexico.

Salvadoran authorities reported the death of nine people, including five soldiers. There at least 830 people were evacuated from the danger areas.

Authorities in El Salvador and Guatemala closed schools on Monday. A woman died on Sunday after being washed away in floodwaters in Honduras, officials said.

With this, five people, including a four-year-old child, have been confirmed dead when the boat capsized near the Nicaragua border.

Panama’s emergency services on Monday confirmed two deaths as a result of heavy rain. Also, about 300 people were evacuated from near the country’s border with Costa Rica.

The storm was moving northwest at 15 mph (24 km/h) toward Guatemala along the coast of El Salvador on Monday, according to the US National Hurricane Center (NHC).

However, on Monday evening, this storm appeared to be weakening.

Hurricane Julia left one million people without electricity in Nicaragua and more than 13,000 families homeless due to heavy rains and floods.
