Lord Mountbatten was ordered by the British Parliament to transfer power to India by June 30, 1948. However, Lord Mountbatten advanced this date.

He fixed its date as August 15, 1947.

Regarding this, Rajagopalachari said that Mountbatten had taken the decision to extend the date of independence so that the situation in the country would not deteriorate.

Mountbatten chose independence on August 15 after the transfer of power, and behind this he reasoned that two years of Japan’s surrender in World War II are being completed on this day.

That’s why this day has been chosen for independence. After this, after all the formalities were completed, this day became the day of independence of the country.

Pakistan declared Independence Day in 1948.

The first postage stamp issued by Pakistan declared August 15 as its Independence Day.

At the same time, while addressing the first Independence Day of Pakistan in this regard, Jinnah had said, “15 August is the birthday of Pakistan’s independence.”

However, a year later i.e. in the year 1948, Pakistan declared August 14 as its Independence Day.
