CDS General Bipin Rawat said on Friday that India is facing many external security challenges and the most worrying is China’s technological progress in the cyber and space sector.

He was addressing a three-day conference of the Indian Air Force, which was inaugurated by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh at Yelahanka Air Force Station to commemorate the ‘Golden Victory Year’, celebrating 50 years of victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

“India is facing several external security challenges, including deep territorial interconnections, a legacy of unresolved border disputes, a culture of competition, and undermining India’s strategic location,” Rawat said.

He said India is also witnessing geostrategic competition in the Indo-Pacific region, including the race for strategic bases in the Indian Ocean region and increased militarization of ‘Belt and Road’ posts in the region by northern enemy China.

Rawat said, “China’s technological progress in the cyber and space sector is the most worrying.” Will happen.

On the issue of Pakistan, the CDS said that the continuing sponsorship of cross-border terrorism, anti-India rhetoric on social media, and attempts to create social disharmony within India, appear to be “non-filling” of the trust gap between India and that country.

Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhary, Defense Secretary Ajay Kumar, and Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashok were present on the occasion among others.

Pointing out how things have changed in the world since 1971, Ajay Kumar stressed the need to be ‘manifold more’ prepared to face today’s security scenario.
