Indian & Sri Lankan navies conclude bilateral maritime exercise SLINEX.

From 7 to 10 March, the ninth edition of the Sri Lanka–India Naval Exercise (SLINEX), a bilateral maritime exercise of the Indian and Sri Lankan navies, was being conducted in Visakhapatnam.

Giving this information by tweeting from its official Twitter handle, the Indian Navy said, “India-Sri Lanka Bilateral Maritime Exercise SLINEX Exercise concluded today at Visakhapatnam.

The scope and complexity of the exercise are indicative of the high level of trust, cooperation, and interoperability between the Indian Navy and the Sri Lankan Navy.

In an official release, the Sri Lanka Navy said that representing the Sri Lanka Navy, SLNS Sayurala participated in the bilateral naval exercise.

The Sri Lanka Navy further said the 09th edition of ‘SLINEX’ consisted of two phases as Harbor Phase and Sea Phase.

The Indian Navy was represented by the corvette INS Kirch, fleet support tanker INS Jyothi, several helicopters, and a Dornier maritime surveillance aircraft.

According to the release, SLINEX has focused on enhancing inter-operability, improving mutual understanding.

Exchanging best practices and procedures for maritime cooperation between the two navies, leading to a stronger, security point of view between the two navies. the relationship can be established.

The harbor phase of the exercise was conducted from March 7-8 at the Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam, the release said.

Meanwhile, cultural, professional, social and sports exchanges also took place under the Harbor Phase.
