Karnataka Court Jails Pakistani Woman: A court in Karnataka has sentenced a Pakistani woman and her Indian husband to jail for violating visa rules.

Karwar District Court sentenced Nseera Parveen to six months in prison, while her husband Mohd Ilyas will be jailed for one month.

These two were also fined Rs 10,000. Judge DS Vijayakumar issued the order on Thursday.

Police had filed the charge sheet.

A case changed into registered in opposition to Mohammad Ilyas on June 17, 2014, for taking Naseera to New Delhi for an extension of her visa without informing the Bhatkal Police Station and the FRO of Karwar.

A case of violation of visa standards has been registered at Bhatkal city police station. Police have filed an indictment against the couple over the matter.

Bengaluru Chennai Expressway: Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway will be ready by March next year: Nitin Gadkari.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said that the Rs 17,000 crore new greenfield project – Bengaluru to Chennai Expressway will be ready by March 2024.

Gadkari told reporters after inspecting the project at Vadaganahalli near Hoskote on the outskirts of the city that the 285.3-km four-laning project would help save travel time.

The Minister said that this would also help in avoiding delays in passing through major cities and congested areas.

Gadkari stated Rs 5,069 crore can be spent on this 71.7-kilometer Bharatmala mission in Karnataka.

By making this road, we will reduce the logistics cost, he said. Already 231 km is under construction. We want to finish this project by March 2024.

Gadkari said the project involves forest land about which he has spoken to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for all clearances.

He also said that an Amrit Mahotsav Bird Sanctuary and an Amrit Sarovar will also be built on this stretch.
