Kerala Finance Minister KN Balagopal today tabled the budget for the financial year 2022-23 in the Assembly.

The state government is facing challenges in boosting revenue, stimulating economic growth, and tackling the state’s growing debt liabilities.

Speaking to reporters before leaving for the Assembly, Balagopal said: “This is the budget that will lay the foundation for the long-term development of Kerala.

The budget wants to tackle inflation and not put a burden on citizens. Globally it is a complex situation. He hopes the government will do its best in the given situation.

The budget emphasizes infrastructure development to stimulate economic growth. Beyond politics, I hope the opposition will support the budget in the primary interest of the state. ” said.

Here are the key features of the Kerala budget:

Rs 2,000 crore has been earmarked in the budget for the current fiscal to curb inflation and ensure food security.

The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) has announced an allocation of Rs 200 crore for universities.

KIIFB’s corpus fund will set up industrial facilities parks at a cost of Rs 200 crore. KIIFB has allocated Rs.1000 crore for the Thiruvananthapuram Outer Ring Road.

The Center has set aside Rs 2 crore to organize various events, including seminars on ensuring world peace.

Encourage start-ups in universities. Rs 90 crore for start-up mission. Rs 28 crore for the electronic center.

An allocation of Rs.350 crore for setting up capacity parks in all districts.

Incubation centers will be set up in universities. 127 crore for Kerala IT work. Rs 26 crore has been announced for the Digital University.

Rs 100 crore announcement for Medical Innovation Lab; ₹ 15 crores for graphene research; A sum of Rs. 5 crores.

The Chief Minister’s Nava Kerala Scholarship will be given to 150 people.

The budget proposes a new IT park in Kannur. Four IT corridors will be set up parallel to NH 66; An IT park of 5 lakh square feet will be set up in Kollam.

Rs 100 crore has been earmarked for information technology infrastructure development. Rs. 1000 crore.

Steps will be taken to launch the 5G service in Kerala. Four science parks are to be set up at a cost of Rs 1000 crore.  To continue working at home (Work at Home) announced in the last budget Rs. 50 crore.

Rs 2 crore for a pilot project to produce ethanol from cassava. Seven Agricultural Technology Facility Centers will be set up across Kerala at a cost of Rs. 175 crore

Rs 500 crore has been earmarked for rubber subsidy.

The Agricultural Marketing Company will be set up on the CIAL model (PPP). Rs 20 crore has been allocated to build the company.

Rs 50 crore has been announced for repaired roads. Rs 20 crore to clean Ashtamudi Lake

A total of Rs 851 crore has been allocated for the agriculture sector. Rs 76 crore has been announced for paddy support schemes.

Rs 73 crore for coconut development. Rs 100 crore for micro-irrigation projects. Other crops will be allowed in the gardens. The minimum support price of paddy has been raised to Rs. 28.20 per kg.

Rs 10 crore has been earmarked for dams. 260 crore for various activities of Kudumbasree. Kerala Local Government Corporation (KIL) has been allotted Rs. 33 crore.

This year 12 crore man-days of work will be created under MGNREGA. Rs 10 crore for setting up cold chain centers in fisheries Rs 100 crore for coastal protection.

140 crore for the second Kuttanad package. Rs 30 crore has been announced for the Sabarimala Master Plan.

1222 crore for industry. Rs 10 crore for multi-purpose industrial estates. An allocation of Rs. 20 crore in the budget to upgrade private industrial parks.

Rs 25 crore to reduce human-animal conflicts. Rs 10 crore for eco-tourism development.

In the budget, Rs 117 crore has been earmarked for the Coconut North sector, Rs 16 crore for the Khadi sector, and Rs 113 crore for the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC).

The Travancore Titanium Manufacturing Plant in Thiruvananthapuram has announced Rs 23 crore for the manufacture of by-products from sewage.

It is proposed in the budget to introduce mobile ration shops. The Kochi Water Metro project will cost Rs. 150 crores has been declared.
