Kerala High Court Grants Interim Bail To SFI Leader

Kerala High Court grants interim bail to SFI leader for appearing in the examination.

The Kerala High Court on Friday granted interim bail to PM Arsho, the state secretary of CPIM’s student wing Students’ Federation of India (SFI), in several cases including an attempt to murder.

The court granted interim bail to the SFI leader till August 4 to write the university examinations. He is currently in judicial custody.

Case registered in 2018.

The Kerala High Court had canceled his bail in the attempt to murder case of Arsho citing his involvement in 12 cases during the bail period. A case was registered against the SFI leader in 2018.

Arsho was arrested in a case registered under sections 308, 355, 323, 324, 506, and 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for allegedly assaulting a student.

Earlier, on July 12, the Kerala High Court had rejected Arsho’s bail plea in several cases, including an attempt to murder.

On June 12, Kerala Police arrested Arsho for violating bail conditions, after which he was remanded to 14-day judicial custody.

SFI activists later felicitated Arsho by raising slogans and garlanding them just before entering the sub-jail in the Kakkanad district. He was felicitated when he was brought to the sub-jail by the police.

Third case of monkeypox in Kerala, confirmed by Health Minister Veena George

The third case of monkeypox has come to light in Kerala. Monkeypox infection has been confirmed in a 35-year-old youth who returned from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in early July.

Kerala Health Minister Veena George said that the youth, a resident of Malappuram, had returned to his home state on July 6 and is undergoing treatment at Manjeri Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram.

According to George, the condition of the young man is stable. She told that the people who have been in contact with the infected are being closely monitored.
