Madani and Naeem Akhtar released, Para Shifted to Srinagar Jail: Jammu Kashmir. Madani, Naeem Akhtar’s release, and Para’s return to Srinagar raise questions.

The sudden release of senior Peoples Democratic Party leader Sartaj Madani on Saturday, followed by the end of the detention of former education minister Naeem Akhtar on Sunday.

The shifting of Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, who was involved in terror-political nexus, allegedly from Kotbhalwal jail in Jammu, to Srinagar jail.

The transfer has given rise to many questions. Although administration officials are calling it a lawful normal procedure.

Experts in Kashmir affairs are seeing it by linking it to the meeting to be held at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence on June 24.

Sartaj Madani, the former Deputy Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, was detained by the police on 21 December 2020 as a precautionary measure as per the directions of the J&K State Government.

Earlier, he was detained on August 5, 2019, and released in June 2020. Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s maternal uncle Sartaj Madani has also been accused of corruption from time to time.

Madani and Naeem Akhtar released: Madani is also accused of allegedly having links with separatists and hawala traders.

Former Education Minister Naeem Akhtar was also taken into preventive custody on 21 December 2020 and about a month ago he was released from jail on his health grounds and put under house arrest.

His detention, which went late this evening, was also terminated. Waheed ur Rehman Para was taken from  Jail to Kotbhalwal, Jammu Jail to Srinagar Jail this evening.

Waheed-ur-Rehman Para was arrested by the National Investigation Agency in November last year in a case related to the terror-police-political nexus.

His name had come up in the interrogation of terrorist commander Naveed Babu, who was arrested in January last year, and DSP Devendra Singh, who was dismissed from the police service.

In January this year, he was also granted bail by the court, but he was again arrested by the Counter Intelligence Wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The NIA and the Jammu and Kashmir Police Counter Intelligence Wing have also filed charge sheets against Para in court.

The security agencies have claimed in their chargesheet that Waheed-ur-Rehman was a special and valuable pawn of  Pakistan and terrorist organizations.

Para after infiltrating the mainstream politics of Jammu and Kashmir, was furthering the reach of the separatist camp in the administrative system.

He was slowly preparing the wind in favor of Pakistan on the Kashmir issue in the administrative machinery and in various sections of Jammu and Kashmir. He also couriered weapons to the terrorists.

Apart from playing an important role in getting Pakistani terrorist Abu Dujana married to a local girl, he has also given about five crore rupees to the son-in-law of radical Syed Ali Shah Geelani to spoil the situation in Kashmir.

The name of this son-in-law of Geelani is Altaf Shah alias Fantosh and he is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with terror funding. Para was taken from Srinagar to Kot Bhalwal Jail on 18 June itself.

In the context of bringing Waheed ur Rehman Para to Srinagar jail this evening, when talks were held with his acquaintances, he also expressed surprise over this. He said that we do not know whether he has been brought back to Srinagar.

Peoples Democratic Party President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti have often demanded the release of her party leaders, accusing them of being implicated due to political bias.

She has denied the allegations leveled against Waheed ur Rehman Para many times.

She has often said that she opposes the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, which came into force on August 5, 2019, so her relatives and party are being implicated in various cases.

Recently, in a conversation with journalists in Anantnag, he had said that if the central government wants to normalize the situation here, then all Kashmiri prisoners should be released unconditionally.

The release of political prisoners has also been discussed in the PAGD meeting held at Mehbooba’s residence in the past.

Kashmir affairs expert and senior journalist Asif Qureshi said that the circumstances under which Sartaj Madani is suddenly released and then Waheed ur Rehman Para is brought back to Srinagar today are bound to raise questions.

Former education minister Naeem Akhtar is also released from detention. Earlier these people were being told a crisis for law and order.

If it was necessary to keep Waheed ur, Rehman Para, in Srinagar jail, then why was he taken to Kot Bhalwal two days ago.

All this is not a mere coincidence, it can in a way be called the effort of the Central Government to ensure the presence of Mehbooba Mufti in the meeting to be held on June 24.

Everyone knows that Mehbooba Mufti is adopting a reckless attitude at the moment.

Even today, in the PDP meeting, there was no consensus in the PDP on the issue of attending the talks to be held at the Prime Minister’s residence on June 24 and then everyone deferred the decision to Mehbooba Mufti.

In the PDP meeting, several associates of Mehbooba Mufti were also raising the issue of the release of their jailed comrades.
