Megha Scam of land in Jammu and Kashmir, know what is the Roshni Act and the controversy related to it.

Political activities in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified these days. District Development Council elections are to be held here.

There will be an election for the first time since Article 370 was removed and the state made a Union Territory.

In this, the National Conference and the PIDP (Guptakar Alliance) will jointly contest the elections.

Before the elections, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has released the first list related to the Roshni Act land Megha scam.

It has the names of 868 people including Farooq Abdullah. Let’s know whether the Roshni Act and the controversy related to it.

Let us tell you that Jammu and Kashmir was the first state to introduce Land Reform Law in 1950. In 2001, Farooq Abdullah’s government brought the Roshni Act (Jammu and Kashmir State Land Act 2001).

At that time, Farooq Abdullah’s National Conference Party was part of the NDA. His son Omar Abdullah was a minister in the Tatkal BJP government at the Center.

The purpose of bringing this law was to regularize the unauthorized occupation of land.

This law gave ownership to those who encroached on government land in Jammu and Kashmir for many decades.

For this, the cut for the year 1990 was fixed. Later governments coming to Jammu and Kashmir kept changing it.

Under the Roshni Act, the amount received from the allotment of land was to be used to improve the power structure, but the allotment of land was not done properly.

Under this, lakhs of hectares of government land was distributed to the people at a quarter to one price. Only 15.58 percent of the land was approved for ownership.

Former Governor Satyapal Malik canceled the scheme on 28 November 2018. They did so under the scheme, receiving less revenue, and failing objectives.

A PIL was filed in the High Court regarding this. The High Court dismissed the act as unconstitutional.

The court further ordered the cancellation of the lands distributed under it and asked to make the names of the beneficiaries public.
