Navneet Rana And Ravi Rana Were Sent To Judicial Custody

Navneet Rana and Ravi Rana were sent to judicial custody till May 6, police remand application was rejected.

Independent MP from Amravati Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana were sent to judicial custody for 14 days by the Bandra Court.

Mumbai Police had sought police custody for them, which was rejected by the court.

A case has been registered against the Rana couple under section 124A of the IPC. This section is imposed for sedition.

Before the production, another FIR was registered against Navneet under Section 353 of the IPC. She has been accused of interfering in government work.

On Saturday, she was accused of spreading hatred on the basis of religion, and caste through his statements.

Let us inform you that MP Navneet Rana and her husband Ravi Rana were arrested by the Mumbai Police on Saturday amid the ongoing tussle over the recitation of Hanuman Chalisa in Mumbai.

They were produced in Bandra Court today. The court has ordered to send both to jail till May 6. Special Public Prosecutor Pradeep Gharat told that there will be a hearing on bail on April 29.

On Saturday, after a day-long ruckus, the police arrested MP Navneet and Ravi Rana for promoting enmity between two groups on the basis of section 153A i.e. religion, and took both of them to Khar police station.

Many questions arose regarding this action. However, the Rana couple was shifted from Khar police station to Santacruz police station late in the night.

The arrest of MP Navneet Rana and MLA Ravi Rana was illegal.

Senior advocate Rizwan Merchant, on behalf of MP Navneet Rana, told the media persons that the arrest of MP Navneet Rana and MLA Ravi Rana is illegal.

He said the arrest was illegal and unconstitutional as both are public servants. Police should have taken the permission of the Speaker before arresting them, but no permission has been taken.

At the same time, he said that the notice of section 41 (A) against them was to be taken within 14 days from the beginning of the case, which has not been taken.

Merchant said that if the Maharashtra government does not release Navneet and Ravi Rana, their release will be ordered through the court.

The senior advocate said that a lot of time is being given to the Maharashtra government to withdraw this illegal arrest, otherwise, if this matter goes to court, we will take an order of release through court proceedings.
