The news agency quoted an official as saying that the Naxalites have also warned election officials not to go to the polling stations to conduct voting on November 7.
This incident took place in the Naxal-affected village Bethia of the Pakhanjoor police station area.

The official said that according to preliminary information, on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, Naxalites strangled a person named Muchaki Linga to death with a rope and threw his body on the roadside between Galgam and Nadapalli villages of Bijapur district.

He said that in the last four decades, Naxalites have caused the death of more than 1,700 innocent civilians and destroyed public properties worth crores of rupees.
