Police officer Siyuuse Enene said the gunmen attacked civilians in the town of Magaban in Benue state on Friday evening. The case is currently under investigation.

Sorgo called Thursday and Friday’s attacks “despicable and barbaric” and said the government was trying to bring peace to the region. He urged people to keep calm.
At least 22 civilians have also been killed in attacks by extremist rebels in eastern Congo. This is the group’s second major lethal attack this week.
Oicha Mayor Nicolas Kambale said the United Democratic Forces (ADF), affiliated with the Islamic State terrorist group, attacked residents of the Beni district in northern Kivu late Friday evening.
On Saturday, he said, “The enemy killed him brutally.” Kambale said at least 22 civilians were killed in the attack.
A few days ago, ADF soldiers killed more than 30 civilians, including women and children, between Ituri’s Irumu and Mambasa districts.
