President Ram Nath Kovind pays floral tribute to the brave martyrs of Kargil in Kashmir’s Baramulla.

President Ram Nath Kovind laid a wreath at the Dagger War Memorial in Baramulla, Jammu, and Kashmir to pay tribute to all the soldiers who laid down their lives in defense of the country.

Earlier, on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, CDS General Bipin Rawat, LG  Ladakh RK Mathur, and Ladakh MP Jamyang Namgyal paid floral tributes at Kargil War Memorial in Drass today.

The CDS also installed a Vijay Jyoti at the memorial. President Kovind had a program to pay tribute to the martyrs by visiting Dras in Kargil today, but now it has been changed due to bad weather.

“President Ram Nath Kovind will not pay tribute to the martyrs at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras due to bad weather,” an Indian Army official said.

President Kovind will now lay a wreath at the Baramulla War Memorial.

On Sunday, a day before Kargil Vijay Diwas, Chief of Defense Staff Bipin Rawat visited areas along the Line of Control in the Drass sector of Kargil district.

Army tweeted that CDS General Bipin Rawat visited the area along the Line of Control in the Drass sector and reviewed the current security situation and preparedness.

During this, the CDS interacted with the soldiers and congratulated them for their high morale. President Kovind arrived here on Sunday on a four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Earlier in the year 2019, President Ram Nath Kovind could not participate in the Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations due to bad weather.

He paid tribute to the brave martyrs by laying a wreath at the war memorial at the headquarters of the Army’s 15th Corps in Badamibagh, Srinagar.

Kargil war took place in 1999 between May and July.

Kargil Vijay Diwas is organized every year on 26th July. This is the same day when the Indian Army got back all its posts in Kargil, which were captured by the Pakistan Army.

This battle took place in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir in the year 1999 between May and July.

The then Pakistani Army Chief General Pervez Musharraf had infiltrated Kargil without informing the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, a day before Kargil Vijay Diwas, urged the countrymen to salute the Kargil heroes who made the country proud in the year 1999.
