Protest by BJP MLAs continues demanding the resignation of NCP leader Nawab Malik: Dawood Money Laundering Case.

BJP MLAs continue to protest outside the assembly demanding the resignation of Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik.

The special PMLA court in Mumbai on Monday sent NCP leader Nawab Malik to 14-day judicial custody.

BJP MLAs have been protesting outside the assembly since Friday demanding the resignation of Nawab Malik.

Significantly, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Malik on February 23 in the Dawood Ibrahim money laundering case.

Maharashtra government minister Nawab Malik, arrested for buying land from the family of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, has been sent to 14-day judicial custody.

According to the information received, on Monday evening, he was transferred from ED custody to Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai.

Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik will stay in the jail in which many dreaded criminals are already imprisoned. Malik’s ED custody, arrested on February 23, was extended till March 7.

Some time back, after getting medical, he was again produced in the court. There was an argument for about 20 minutes in the court regarding Malik’s custody.

Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh appeared for the ED, while Amit Desai and Tarak Sayyed appeared for Malik.

Protest by BJP MLAs continues: ED did not demand an extension of custody.

During the hearing in the court, Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh urged the court to send him to judicial custody without seeking an extension of custody, which was accepted by the judge.

However, despite this, Malik’s lawyer Tarak Sayyed had filed an application opposing his custody.

In an earlier hearing, Malik’s custody was extended after the Public Prosecutor had placed a confidential statement related to the 1993 bomb blasts before the court.
