In this encounter, two Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists Abid Shah, who shot dead constable Riyaz Ahmed of Armed Police a few days ago, were trapped.

IG Kashmir Vijay Kumar had informed that only two terrorists were trapped, so the operation was almost complete, but it has not been officially confirmed yet.

The encounter started on Sunday evening when the security forces got information about the hiding of terrorists in Gundipora.

After that, a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, and CRPF cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation.

Seeing the cordon of the security forces getting stronger, the enraged terrorists started firing on the soldiers.

At first, the hiding terrorists were asked to surrender but continued firing on the security forces. After that, the security forces also started giving a befitting reply. After that, the encounter started.

The firing was going on from both sides till late at night. The body of a terrorist was recovered from the encounter site in the morning. In no time, another terrorist was killed again.

Kashmir’s IG Police Vijay Kumar had told on Sunday late evening that two local Jaish terrorists were trapped in the encounter. It also features terrorist Abid Shah, who sacrificed constable Riyaz.

Weapons recovered from Qazigund:

In another incident, police, and the army claimed to have recovered one pistol and two grenades left by terrorists in the Sandran Nala area of ​​South Kashmir’s Qazigund area on Sunday.

According to a senior police officer, following specific information, the police and the army started cordoning and searching the area.

Thereafter, the joint team fired a few rounds, after which the terrorists fled the area leaving behind a pistol and two grenades.

Following the recovery, the cordon has been strengthened and a search operation is on in the area, the official said.
