Putin May Use Nuclear Weapons: US Intelligence Official Warns

Putin may use nuclear weapons: US Intelligence Official Warns.

A top US intelligence official has warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin may see the prospect of a defeat in Ukraine as a potential threat to his regime.

Putin could potentially trigger his resort to use nuclear weapons. The Guardian gave this information.

The warning came in an assessment by intelligence chiefs briefing the Senate on threats around the world.

Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines told the Senate Armed Services Committee that Putin would continue to use Russia’s nuclear arsenal in an effort to prevent Ukraine from providing support to the US and its allies.

He said the focus on east and south Ukraine is a temporary strategy rather than a permanent reduction of the war targets, The Guardian reported.

Haines argued that the Russian leader would not use nuclear weapons unless he saw a potential threat to Russia or his regime. But he said he could see the prospect of defeat in Ukraine as such a threat.

Haines told the committee hearing that we think Putin’s perception of an existential threat may be the case if he thinks he is losing the war in Ukraine.

It is also actually either interfering in or intervening in the NATO war, which clearly will. This will make Putin feel that he is about to lose the war in Ukraine.

According to the report in The Guardian, the use of nuclear weapons for the world is a near threat.

There is a long and fierce war against Ukraine, which could lead to increasingly destabilizing actions on the part of Putin, including full mobilization, and the imposition of martial law.

Putin’s position in Moscow is at risk if the Russian leader thinks the war against Ukraine is going against him. In such a situation, he can use a nuclear warhead.
