Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh took tea for MPs. Harivansh, who took tea for Rajya Sabha MPs who went on a sit-in overnight, praised Prime Minister Modi.

The eight MPs, who were suspended from Rajya Sabha, sat on a dharna in front of the Gandhi statue overnight. They were suspended by Speaker Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday for committing uproar in the House and misbehaving with Deputy Speaker Harivansh.

Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh himself reached the MPs’ picket on Tuesday morning. He brought a bag with tea for MPs. Harivansh took tea out of his hands and made the MPs drink. He also spoke to those MPs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted praising the move by Deputy Chairman Harivansh and said, “Taking tea by yourself for the MPs who attacked and insulted them is a reflection of Mr. Harivansh’s openness and nobility. This shows his greatness. I along with the people of the country congratulate Harivanshji for this.

Congress MP Ripun Bora said, ‘No one came to take our position from the government. Many opposition leaders came and talked about supporting us. We will continue to perform.

Harivansh Ji said that he came to meet us as a colleague and not as a Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha. He also brought tea and snacks with him. We stayed here overnight on the campus.

In fact, on Monday, there was a scene in the Rajya Sabha which was rarely seen before, the MPs created a ruckus in the Well in protest of the Agriculture Bill and tried to tear down the rule book.

During the passage of the Agriculture Bill, these MPs created an uproar as well as misbehaving with the Deputy Chairman, after which the Speaker of the House acted on these MPs. Explain that this bill has been passed in the Lok Sabha by voice vote.

8 MPs suspended

The suspended MPs include Derek O’Brien and Dola Sen of the Trinamool Congress, Sanjay Singh of the Aam Aadmi Party, Rajiv Satav of the Congress, Syed Nasir Hussain, Ripun Bora, and KK Rajesh and Ellmalran Karim from the CPI (M).

It is noteworthy that the opposition had moved a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, which was rejected by Chairman Venkaiah Naidu.

MP’s suspension undemocratic: Congress

Terming the suspension of MPs as undemocratic steps, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that at first the MPs were not given a chance to speak and after that, it was decided to suspend.

At the same time, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad defended the government and said that the government had a clear majority in the Rajya Sabha.

110 MPs were supporting the bill

Ravi Shankar said that on Sunday, 110 MPs in the Rajya Sabha were supporting the agriculture bill while only 72 MPs were opposing it. Ravi Shankar attacked the opposition saying that their agenda was to prevent the House from passing the bill.
