Russian Army Is Withdrawing From Chernobyl Nuclear Site

Russian army is withdrawing from the Chernobyl nuclear site, which Ukraine had demanded due to fear of an explosion, claims the US: Russia-Ukraine War.

The continuing war between Russia and Ukraine seems to be subsiding somewhat.

On Tuesday, the tension between the two countries appeared to be lessening during peace talks to end the Russo-Ukraine war in Istanbul.

After which the US has now claimed that the Russian military has started pulling out of the Chernobyl nuclear power site.

A huge amount of nuclear waste was stored in Chernobyl.

Russian troops occupied the Chernobyl site on the very first day of Russia’s military crackdown on Ukraine. A large number of nuclear waste is still stored here.

The war between Russia and Ukraine started on 24 February.

A US Defense Department official has said in his statement that Russia has started moving its troops from Chernobyl. They are leaving from here and going towards Belarus.

The US has confirmed Russia’s transfer from Chernobyl, but it is not yet clear whether the Russian military has completely ended its occupation of Chernobyl.

Russia also captured Zaporizhzhya.

Russian troops also captured Europe’s largest nuclear plant, Zaporizhzhya, on March 4. There were also reports of a fire at a training facility due to shelling.

UN nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grassi visited the South Ukraine nuclear power plant on Wednesday. Because fears were raised about the nuclear accident amid continued military action by Russia.

Four nuclear power plants are active in Ukraine.

Significantly, there are 15 reactors in four active nuclear power plants in Ukraine. Also, there are reserves of nuclear waste, including Chernobyl.

This place was the site of the world’s worst nuclear disaster in 1986.

On Wednesday, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk said there was a danger of an ammunition explosion at the defunct Chernobyl nuclear power station.

As a result, the Russian army that captured the plant should be driven out.

At the same time, he also said that the peace talks between Ukraine and Russia on Tuesday had also asked to allow the establishment of 97 humanitarian corridors in the cities and villages most affected by the war.
