Shikhar Dhawan Returns Without Opening Account In First Match

Shikhar Dhawan returns without opening an account in the first match that runs out due to a misunderstanding with Prithvi Shaw. In the Indian Premier League 2020 (IPL 2020) Delhi Capitals opener Shikhar Dhawan was unlucky in his first match and was run out without scoring.

Winning the toss, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) captain KL Rahul invited Delhi to bat first. Delhi started badly and Dhawan kept going in the second over of the match. He returned to the pavilion on zero while taking runs and fell victim to a misunderstanding with his teammate Prithvi Shaw.

On the fourth ball of Mohammed Shami’s second over in Delhi’s innings, Dhawan tried to hit a pull shot. The ball went behind the wicket, which KL Rahul could not stop. Dhawan ran to take a run. Prithvi Shaw was probably not ready for this.

Dhawan then ran towards the crease. Rahul throws the ball, Krishnappa Gautam, who came running near the wicket, caught the ball and scattered the balls, Dhawan returned to the pavilion.

The second match of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League was quite exciting. The match played between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) was a tie. Both teams scored 157 for eight wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.

The match was then decided in a super over, in which the Delhi team won. However, if umpire Nitin Menon had not made a mistake, the match would not have gone to the super over and Punjab would have won.

Actually, Nitin Menon called Punjab’s one run as short run, but in replays, it was found that this run was not short. Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was incensed by the umpire’s decision and said that Umar should be given the man of the match.

What did the umpire miss?

Punjab had a target of 157 runs to win. In the last 10 balls, he needed 21 runs to win. Manik Agarwal was batting very well and taking Punjab towards victory. At the other end was England’s Chris Jordan. Kagiso Rabada came out to bowl for Delhi in 19 overs.

Manyak hit a brilliant four off his second ball. On the next ball, he completed two runs. It was called a short run by umpire Nitin Menon. According to Nitin, Jordan did not keep the bat inside the crease while completing his first run.

Due to this Punjab got only one run, but in TV replays it was clearly known that Jordan had placed the bat inside the crease. As a result, the match was tied and Punjab lost in the Super Over.
