Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal was expected to enter the semi-finals after beating veteran Stan Wawrinka in the quarter-finals of the Prague Open tennis tournament, but it did not. On Thursday, he challenged the three-time Grand Slam winner Stan Wawrinka by winning the first set in the quarter-finals of Prague Open but then Sumit Nagal loses under pressure.

The 23-year-old Sumit Nagal hoped to upset the first set against Switzerland’s strongman 6-2, but could not do so. Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal, ranked 127th, was defeated by world number 17 Wawrinka 6–0, 6–1 in the next two sets to enter the semi-finals. The match lasted for one hour and 19 minutes. Sumit Nagal won a set at the US Open last year against multiple-time Grand Slam winner and Swiss tennis Roger Federer and then lost. The same has happened to him in the Prague Open.

Sumit Nagal, who prepares with the help of Virat Kohli’s foundation, has also participated in the Grand Slam tournament four times but has not finished ahead of the quarter-finals even once. Born on 16 August 1997, Sumit Nagal is recently 23 years old. He won the doubles title at the 2015 Wimbledon Youth tournament and became the sixth Indian player to win the Junior Grand Slam title. He represents the Indian team in the Davis Cup.
