Taliban officer Abdul Rehman Munawwari was killed, and no organization took responsibility.

Abdul Rahman Munawar, a Taliban official responsible for the economy of Afghanistan’s Faryab province, was assassinated on Saturday.

According to a leading news agency, quoting local sources, the Taliban officer was killed by an unidentified armed man while he was on his way to his home.

The acting head of information and culture of Faryab province, Shamsullah Mohamed, confirmed the news of the killing.

He said in a statement that the incident took place in a village in the Kaiser district of Faryab.

“Abdul Rahman Munawwar, the Taliban’s head of economics in Faryab province, was killed by unidentified armed men while he was on his way home,” Shamsullah Mohamed told the media.

A Taliban official said the Islamic Emirate had opened its investigation and was looking for the killer. The Taliban forces are searching for two unidentified assailants who killed Abdul Rehman Munawwar.

According to Taliban security officials, the motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained and no individual, group, or organization has claimed responsibility.

Crime increased after the Taliban came to power.

Crime and murder cases have risen sharply since the Taliban took power last year. Even Taliban officials are not safe.

Earlier in June, Afghanistan’s Resistance Front (NRF) claimed that it shot down a Taliban helicopter and captured four members of the group in the country’s Panjshir province.

A driver in his car was shot dead by security forces in Sanandaj, while two teachers at a school in Saqz were injured, according to the Iranian human rights group Henga.

Henga said another protester was shot in the stomach by IRGC security forces and died.
