Terrorist Incidents Reduced By Two-Thirds In J&K

Terrorist incidents reduced by two-thirds due to abrogation of Article 370, Kashmiri migrants have started returning after improving the situation.

Terrorist incidents are decreasing rapidly in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.

There has been a two-thirds reduction in the number of security forces personnel killed in terrorist attacks and deaths in 2021 as compared to 2019.

However, the number of civilians killed in terrorist attacks still remains a cause for concern.

In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on Monday, Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt said that in 2019, the year Article 370 was abrogated, 594 terror attacks were registered in J&K.

80 security forces personnel died in these attacks. But after that, the number of terrorist attacks has come down to 244 in 2020 and 195 by 15 November this year.

Similarly, the number of security forces personnel killed in terrorist attacks have come down to 62 in 2020 and 35 by November 23 this year.

Earlier in 2018, 91 jawans were killed in a total of 614 terrorist attacks.

Despite the reduction in terrorist attacks, the number of terrorists killed in encounters is not showing much reduction, which shows the strong position of the security forces.

A total of 257 terrorists have been killed in encounters in 2018, 157 in 2019, 221 in 2020, and 151 so far this year.

A senior Home Ministry official said that despite the decreasing number of terrorist incidents, the number of common men killed in this is not coming down.

39 in 2018 and 2019, 37 innocent people were killed in terror attacks in 2020. So far this year 40 innocent people have been killed.

Kashmiri migrants have started returning after the situation improves.

Kashmiri migrants, who were forced to leave their homes three decades ago, are now returning to their homes.

According to Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, 1678 migrants have returned to Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 and 151 people have been given back their ancestral property.

Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, Nityanand Rai said that migrants returning after the abrogation of Article 370 have been given jobs under the package announced by Prime Minister Modi in 2015.

Terrorist incidents reduced: The Minister of State for Home said that the government has taken several steps for the migrant Kashmiris.

A portal has been launched on 7th September, on which Kashmiri migrants can make complaints of forced possession of their land and property online.

DM has been directed to take immediate action on the complaint.
