JKP official said that the process of procuring bulletproof jackets and bulletproof light motor vehicles would be completed this month and would be supplied in the next two to three months.

Apart from this, bulletproof glasses, helmets, ultra-wide CCTV cameras for bulletproof vehicles, and deep search mine detectors capable of detecting any explosive far below the ground are also being procured.

About a dozen mine detectors are being purchased.

He informed that 7416 of level-05 and 784 of level-06 bulletproof jackets are being procured.

These jackets will be provided on a priority basis to the police officers and personnel deployed for counter-terrorism operations.

This bulletproof jacket can withstand the blows of steel bullets and even more lethal bullets.

Since the presence of steel bullets with Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists operating in Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has been trying to buy more advanced jackets than the bulletproof jackets already available with them.

In addition to the bulletproof jacket, about two dozen of the bulletproof vehicles being procured will be for the Special Operations Team (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Apart from this, 100 ultra-wide CCTV cameras are also being procured.

He said that all these pieces of equipment are being procured as part of the ongoing process of modernization of Jammu and Kashmir Police.

J&K Police is also going to buy 500 Sig Sauer-716 rifles and 100 Sig Sauer MPX 9mm pistols. Jammu and Kashmir will be the first police in the country to be equipped with Sig-Sire Rifle and Pistol.
