Terrorists attack police team near Central Jail in Srinagar, terrorist absconding-search operation continues.

Terrorists on Tuesday attacked a police team near the Central Jail in the summer capital. The police team narrowly escaped the attack, but the terrorists fled in retaliation.

A blockade has been put in place in the entire city to nab them. Earlier on Monday evening, the security forces thwarted a major terrorist attack on Tengpora Bund by rejecting a 30 kg IED in time.

This IED was about 700 meters from the Srinagar-Baramulla highway.

According to the information received here, a team of policemen was passing through the Saidakadal area, a short distance from the Central Jail in Down-Town, in their vehicle this afternoon.

As soon as the police vehicle reached the bridge, the terrorists who were ambushed at one place opened fire on it.

The sound of gunfire created panic in the entire area and people ran to safer places to save their lives. The terrorists also fled taking advantage of the chaos.

On receiving the news of the attack on the police party, policemen and central paramilitary personnel from the nearby police station also reached the spot.

At the same time, he launched a search operation, encircling the entire area from all sides.

Police station in-charge Rainawari Rakesh Pandita while confirming the attack said that the police team is completely safe. Three to four bullets hit the vehicle the vehicle was bulletproof.

He said that the police team showed restraint, as there was every possibility of civilian casualties if they retaliated at the same time.

At present, a search operation is going on in Saidakadal and its adjoining areas.

According to SSP Srinagar, a search operation is being conducted to nab the terrorists involved in the terrorist attack in Saidakadal.

Apart from this, a blockade has been put in place in the city. Blocks have been put up on all entry points into the city, where security personnel deployed are scrutinizing all suspicious elements and vehicles.

Security has been tightened to prevent terrorists from attacking the city again.

Earlier on Monday late evening, police along with 24 RR personnel of the army, along with the soldiers of 24 RR, recovered a 30 kg IED kept at a particular place on the outskirts of Srinagar at Tengpora Bund.

The officials concerned said that the army had come to know from its apparatus last evening that the terrorist was trying to carry out a major incident in the Tengpora bypass area.

He wants to do some big IED blasts and for this, he has also prepared IED.

Based on this information, a search operation was launched and the IED, which was hidden on the Tengpora Bund, about 700 meters from the highway, was recovered.

The Bomb Disposal Squad made it a safe negation this morning. The concerned officials said that based on the place where the IED was located.

It can be said that the terrorists were going to use it to target the convoy of security forces passing through the Srinagar-Baramulla highway.

Had he been successful in his objective, then once again in the valley there would have been a case like the Pulwama terror attack on 14 February 2019.

At present, the operation to trace the terrorists who had transported the IED in Tengpora was going on till the writing of this news late in the evening.
