The US gives $ 40 billion in aid to war-torn Ukraine, President Joe Biden signs bill. The Russian offensive against Ukraine is nearing its fourth month.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden on Saturday signed legislation to provide another $40 billion in US aid to Ukraine.

Prior to this, during the war, the US has given large-scale military and other help to Ukraine several times.

Biden is on a tour of Asia these days, he will also attend the Quad Summit – 2022 being held in Japan on 24 May. He also met his South Korean counterpart Yoon Sok-Yul in Seoul on Friday.

This law has been passed by the US Congress with bipartisan support. This aid demonstrates US commitment to Ukraine regarding the war.

Ukraine has successfully defended its capital, Kyiv. Now Russia has resumed its offensive in the eastern sector of Ukraine. Meanwhile, US officials have warned about the potential for a prolonged conflict.

The purpose of the financial aid is to support Ukraine to deal with the war. The US had previously given 13.6 billion USD to Ukraine.

The new law would provide $20 billion in military aid for advanced weapons used to stifle Russia’s progress. It has $8 billion in general economic aid.

Ukraine will provide $5 billion in aid to address the global food shortage caused by the collapse of agriculture and more than $1 billion to help refugees.

Biden has signed off on measures under unusual circumstances. According to a White House official, Biden is on a trip to Asia these days.

A US official brought a copy of the bill from a commercial flight so the president could sign it.

It reflects a sense of urgency to continue US support for Ukraine, but also the massive international challenges Biden currently faces.

Even as he tries to redirect US foreign policy to confront China he continues to direct resources to the biggest conflict in Europe since World War II.
