Three new battalions will soon be formed in the Army; Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, Sikh Regiment, Kumaon Regiment to get space.

The situation on the LOC with Pakistan and the LAC with China in East Ladakh is undoubtedly calm, but to increase its offensive and defense capability, three new battalions (battalions) will soon be formed in the Indian Army.

At present, there are about 400 vessels in the Army. Among the proposed new vessels, one will be provided to the Jammu Kashmir Rifles Regiment while one will be provided to the Sikh Regiment and another to the Kumaon Regiment.

All three will be placed in the forward offensive line in the Integrated Battle Group of the Army. Military sources said that the process of formation of the proposed vessels will begin in the next two-three months.

Jawans and JCOs in Jammu and Kashmir Rifles will be the only Domicile of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jawans, JCOs, and NCOs in the Sikh Regiment will be from the Sikh community, similarly, Kumaon Regiment will be recruited from various parts of Uttarakhand including Garhwal.

About three thousand jawans will be recruited in these three vessels. The recruitment process for the three vessels will be carried out separately and in a phased manner.

Under normal circumstances, it takes at least six months to prepare a new military corps.

New recruits will also be recruited: Sources said that in the last few years, especially since 2019, the way the situation has been on the Line of Actual Control with China apart from the international border and Line of Control with Pakistan, The formation of the three vessels has become necessary.

He informed that in addition to the new recruits in the formation of the proposed vessels, the soldiers of other vessels of the respective regiment will also be included.

In this process, the reduction in the number of already existing vessels will be overcome by new recruitment. All three vessels will be placed in the offensive line in advance.

And also consider approving the new battalion: Sources said that apart from these three battalions, the central government is seriously considering approving new battalions for some more regiments in the near future.

The formation of these new battalions will also improve the military’s military capability and military management.

The proposal was prepared eight years ago: Sources associated with the Ministry of Defense said that the proposal for the formation of these vessels was prepared about eight years ago, but the approval has been received only last month.

The formation of these three vessels was proposed eight years ago at the time of the establishment of the 17 Corps. Two divisions were to be created in 17 Corps, in general, there are three divisions in any corps.

Only one Division 59 was formed, headquartered in Bengal. This corps is primarily formed to protect the frontiers and to deal with the enemy in the mountainous areas.

The formation of two divisions in addition to three vessels was also hanging in the balance due to financial reasons. The proposal was renewed and approved during the military tensions with China over LAC in Ladakh last year.
